British Origins (1834–1900)
It all began in 1834 when Lord Henry Brougham, former Chancellor of England, was forced to stop in Cannes due to a cholera epidemic. Charmed by the mild climate, he built a villa and wintered there until his death in 1868, bringing the entire British aristocracy in his wake. Queen Victoria regularly stayed in Nice and Menton in the 1880s–1890s.

The Billionaire Era (1990–Today)
Since the 1990s, the Riviera has attracted global fortunes: Russian oligarchs, Saudi princes, tech magnates. Cap Ferrat properties reach €100 million.
