Two new 5-star hotels on the Côte d'Azur in 2026: Menton-Garavan and Théoule-sur-Mer, two visions of luxury by the sea

April 13, 20263 min read

In 2026, the Côte d'Azur will welcome two new five-star addresses which offer different visions of Mediterranean luxury: in Menton, a 100-room seafront hotel operated by Paris Society, with a 400 m² rooftop and two swimming pools, marks the move upmarket of the "lemon capital". In Théoule-sur-Mer, between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël, the Hôtel Riviera inaugurates the IHG Vignette collection on the Riviera — responsible luxury, panoramic view, preserved privacy.

Menton-Garavan: 5★ of 100 rooms, 2 swimming pools, spa, 400 m² rooftop, 2 restaurants — operated by Paris Society · Théoule-sur-Mer: Hôtel Riviera — Vignette Collection, first IHG address on the Riviera.

Menton has long been perceived as the quiet little sister of the Côte d'Azur — less exposed than Cannes, less world-famous than Nice, more Italian than French in its lights and its architecture. This is precisely what gave it a particular charm for a certain wealthy clientele who seek the Mediterranean without the noise. And this is what the new Garavan hotel capitalizes on.

Menton-Garavan: Paris Society settles on the seafront

The project was long - too long according to some Menton residents who have seen the construction site drag on since 2019. The promoter Alain Paget (Finaréal) and his son Alexis suffered from the defects, the Covid, and the late penalties announced by the town hall. But the result is there: a five-star hotel with around 100 rooms, on the seafront in the Garavan district, with an investment of 40 million euros.

It is the Paris Society group — founded by Laurent de Gourcuff, who transformed addresses like the Tigre Yoga Club, Le Brach, and several Parisian restaurants into lifestyle references — which is responsible for its operation. The program is ambitious: two swimming pools (one indoor, one outdoor), a spa, two restaurants including a gourmet one, and above all a 400 square meter rooftop with event terrace and a view of the Mediterranean. Luxury boutiques focused on water sports will complete the offering on the ground floor.

The profile of the target clientele is clear: clients with a high spending capacity who want the quality of a Riviera palace with the discretion of a less exposed resort. Menton is 30 minutes from Monaco, 45 minutes from Nice, and is directly on the Italian border. For some of our UHNWI customers coming from northern Italy, Italian-speaking Switzerland or Monaco, this address will naturally be more convenient than Cannes or Saint-Tropez.

Théoule-sur-Mer: the Riviera Hotel and the IHG Vignette collection

45 kilometers to the west, between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël, Théoule-sur-Mer was until now a confidential resort for those in the know - a town of 1,300 inhabitants with a protected bay, coves accessible by boat, and very little luxury hotel infrastructure. The arrival of the Riviera Hotel in the IHG Vignette collection changes that.

The Vignette Collection from IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) is positioned on experiential and responsible luxury — establishments which have a particularly strong sense of place, which are anchored in their territory rather than being uprooted from it, and which build an offer around the natural and cultural particularities of their environment. At Théoule, that means contemporary Mediterranean architecture, natural materials, panoramic sea views, and deliberate discretion — an antithesis of the generic luxury resort.

This positioning corresponds to what UHNWIs in wealth mobility on the Riviera are increasingly looking for: not the palace that says its name to each towel rack, but the address that does not need to justify itself because the view, the location and the service speak for themselves.

For Adopt a Concierge service, these two new addresses enrich our map of exceptional stays on the Riviera — from booking suites at the event rooftop in Menton to designing stays in a private villa in Théoule with access to the services of the Hôtel Riviera.
