EMERA was founded by Patrick Freiburghaus and Cyrano Devanthey, two creatives approaching watchmaking from very different but equally fascinating perspectives. Freiburghaus brings the mindset of a visionary designer, focused on creating forms that feel bold and unfamiliar. Devanthey contributes more than three decades of expertise in haute horlogerie complications, bringing technical mastery and mechanical depth to the Maison.

Joining them is Quentin Hoerdt, who leads EMERA's visual identity through photoreal rendering and creative direction. Together, the trio has built a brand that feels less rooted in nostalgia and more connected to the future of luxury design.

Instead of revisiting classic aesthetics, EMERA embraces experimentation. The result is a watch that looks like it belongs inside a futuristic concept gallery as much as it belongs in a collector's vault.

The CYBORG CY 06-1 Is Built Like Mechanical Architecture

The first thing that stands out about the CYBORG CY 06-1 is its structure. The movement does not sit quietly hidden beneath the dial. It becomes part of the entire architecture of the watch itself.

The case features four anti-reflective sapphire crystals, including a dramatic domed sapphire on top, two curved crystals underneath, and a lateral sapphire opening positioned at 6 o'clock. Together, they reveal the inner mechanics from nearly every angle, transforming the watch into a transparent mechanical sculpture.

Its dimensions are bold — 46.80 × 56.60 × 15.90 mm — giving the piece a commanding wrist presence. The combination of ceramic, gold, titanium, sapphire, and diamonds creates a fascinating contrast between industrial sharpness and refined luxury.

A Dial Inspired by Living Armour

One of the most visually captivating elements is the dial itself. EMERA created it using 42 individually hand-set carbon scales, giving the surface a texture that resembles futuristic armour or the skin of an exotic creature.

As light hits the carbon scales, the dial shifts constantly in appearance, producing depth and movement from every angle. Around it sits a bezel set with 21 white VVS diamonds, totalling approximately 2.00 carats, adding brilliance without overpowering the watch's darker and more mysterious aesthetic.

The Flying Tourbillon Takes Centre Stage

At the heart of the CYBORG CY 06-1 is a spectacular 60-second flying tourbillon. Composed of 51 components and weighing only 0.35 grams, it becomes the emotional centrepiece of the watch.

Visible through the sapphire opening at 6 o'clock, the tourbillon performs its constant silent rotation like a mechanical heartbeat suspended in space. It adds motion and drama to the already dynamic structure of the piece.

The movement powering it all is the in-house automatic MRA 01-2 calibre, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of approximately 44 hours. Crafted using Grade 5 titanium and a gold oscillating weight, the calibre was developed, assembled, and quality-controlled entirely in Switzerland.

Even the Strap Feels Sculptural

The CYBORG's strap avoids the usual supporting role. Crafted from Sidéral White rubber, it continues the watch's futuristic aesthetic with engraved chevrons inspired by reptilian scales. A gold pin buckle completes the look with a refined finishing touch.

Only Five Will Ever Exist

Exclusivity is central to EMERA's philosophy. Only five examples of the CYBORG CY 06-1 will ever be produced, each carrying slight natural variations.

The Maison is also handling acquisitions differently. The watch is not openly available for purchase through traditional retail channels. EMERA will personally select each future owner, turning the process into a highly curated relationship between the brand and collector.

Each acquisition includes lifetime watchmaking follow-up, direct access to the founders and craftsmen, and an international lifetime warranty.
