When Cabinetmaking Becomes Sculptural Art
In the heart of the Vosges mountains, in the picturesque village of La Petite Raon, an exceptional workshop houses two artisans whose talent transcends the boundaries of traditional cabinetmaking. Benoît Vauthier and Manu Lerendu — known as Ben & Manu — forged a rare creative alliance in 2012 while studying at the Institut Québécois d'Ébénisterie in Canada.
A Founding Encounter in Québec
It was in Montréal that these two wood enthusiasts discovered a shared vision: transforming furniture into living works of art. Trained in the most demanding North American cabinetmaking techniques, they chose to return to France and establish their workshop close to the Vosges forests that supply some of their finest hardwoods.

Landscapes Carved in Wood
Ben & Manu's signature is instantly recognizable: sculpted landscapes that emerge from the very material of the furniture. Sideboards, consoles, tables, and wall panels become open windows onto misty valleys, mountain ridges, and deep forests. Their technique combines traditional gouge carving with exquisitely delicate finishes, creating plays of relief and light that animate the wood's surface throughout the day.

Ben & Manu's talent has quickly crossed borders. The duo has been honoured with the prestigious SIT Furniture Design Award, an international accolade celebrating excellence in furniture design. They are also laureates of the Frémaa (Alsace Federation of Art Crafts), a regional consecration of their outstanding craftsmanship.
